Eating healthily, going to the gym, family time, time out for yourself, date nights, quiet times with God, housework, church bible studies and socials - the list of good things that you could do with your time goes on and on.  Some days I feel overwhelmed by the amount of things I could and "should" be doing and I feel like a very big, very fat failure.

I seem unable to prioritise the time to do all these good things (and many others I haven't mentioned) and then I realised it is because I am focusing on something else.  My vision this year has been to become a catalyst for God, to step out and show his love in new ways and to invite people into our lives to experience that.  When I was reading last night I was reminded how important this vision is:

"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead" James 2:17

You see, there are many things that we can do in life, many good things and admirable things and many enjoyable things.  But not all these things will have a lasting impact into eternity.  Yes eating healthily and going to gym might extend your life here on earth, but if you do not share the gospel with others why does that extra time matter?  Yes is may be great to have date nights to keep your marriage fresh and intimate, but if you ignore the opportunity to help another couple address their problems and come to know their Saviour better what is the point?

Faith is an amazing thing, but if we do nothing with it it is pointless.  We were saved to go out and tell others!  We were saved so that we could show God's love here on earth.    There are so many good things we can do with our time, but in my opinion there is only ONE great thing - that is to use our time for God's purposes.  To love and serve others.

So I many not cook the healthiest meals or buy everything organic from local shops, I may not have time to get all the housework done and I may be crying out for the time to sit in the bath on my own with a magazine - but as long as I am reaching out to those in need with the good news of God in some way then I am happy.  If you do just one thing today let is be a GREAT thing!
