I am slipping a bit behind on my posts about my 40 acts journey, but I feel that Saturday's challenge of "Off The Hook" can be slightly to blame for that! I took the day offline (mostly....) and had a family trip out to the National Rail Museum in York which was lots of fun. It was definitely freeing to just enjoy the time with my family and not think about what was happening online or trying to keep up with it all.
My focus of this post really though is to talk about act #15 - "Insert Verse Here". The challenge was to encourage others using scripture, to share it, talk about it, include it, meditate on it. And funnily enough this verse was the next one in the book of the bible I have been reading at the moment, so poignant for this journey and I hope it speaks to you all too:
"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him how can the love of God be in him? Dear children let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:17
I don't want to be a generosity hypocrite - talking about it and never actually doing it. I want to be loving others with my actions and showing them the truth of God's love at work within me. I am definitely starting to see more and more opportunities to do that in my everyday life, and I hope that it continues. I loved the video shared on today's post also, which said that it is the little things we do that God can use to make a big difference. When we see someone in need, our action doesn't have to be big or extravagant to make an impact, it just has to be from the heart.
